Cattle Wigtown Agricultural Society Blue Tongue Policy 2026 We understand the growing concern surrounding the current Bluetongue situation and want to reassure you, our exhibitors, that Wigtown Agricultural Society and everyone at Wigtown Show are taking a proactive and precautionary approach. We are closely monitoring the situation and are working in partnership with APHA to ensure the right policies and procedures are in place to prioritise the health and wellbeing of all animals and exhibitors. As the legislation around movement restrictions is subject to change, we want to be transparent and that current rules may not remain the same by the time of the Show. To provide clarity and reassurance, Wigtown Agricultural Society will implement the policy below, which covers eligibility for entry and refund arrangements should the Bluetongue situation evolve. • Entries will not be accepted from any exhibitor in a restriction zone at the time of entry. • Any exhibitor who moves into a restriction zone between the time of entry and the Show is therefore unable to attend and will be offered a refund. • Exhibitors who are unaffected by Bluetongue restrictions will remain subject to our standard terms & conditions, listed in the schedule. We remain committed to keeping all exhibitors informed and supported. Should Government guidance change, we will continue to work closely with APHA and will communicate any updates as soon as possible. Sheep/Goats The following still applies. Females of all breeds of Sheep and Goats (except Dorset Horn, Polled Dorset and Finnish Landrace) to be entered and/or exhibited are: i. Non-Pregnant (empty) ii. Have not lambed/kidded within 30 days prior to the show iii. Are not subject to procedures which change the seasonal breeding pattern ALL LAMBS MUST BE BRED BY EXHIBITOR
